Help Your Dog Relieve Stress

Latest SIP DOG CHALLENGE

Our dogs are feeling the stress around us. Whether it’s directly from our family members at home, or even out on walks as people avoid them instead of coming up and saying hello. They are confused and tense.  You need ways to help your dog relieve stress!

In addition to performing massage on your dog as I mentioned in my last post, you can also let them play rough and chew on things to get rid of their stress. Rawhides, bully sticks, and other edible chews are great for their jaws and teeth as well as for releasing pent-up energy.

Another really great way to do it is to let them destroy things that are OK to destroy like I am doing here in this video with Musik and eucalyptus bark. Getting rip-apart puzzle toys is good as well.

Lastly, I also play “tug-of-war” with her, and she blows off a lot of steam with that game. I’ve heard from many people that they were told not to play tug-of-war with their dog, but that is just plain silly. If you make sure there’s some rules (so they don’t try to play tug-of-war with every object in your house), you can have lots of fun and exercise together with this great collaborative game.

Here are some easy instructions for how to safely play this game with your pup:
