Jenny’s ready for her last lesson at the dog park. We worked on safe street crossing and greeting other dogs on leash. She can still be a little shy with new dogs. When this happens, I give my clients this advice:

Keep socializing her as much as possible. When she sniffs other dogs (on leash or at dog parks), say “good dog”. If she tries to hide behind you, tell her no disappointingly (not angrily) and move out of the way. Encourage her to meet dogs by taking her there first and petting them. Be the leader and show her you are not scared. Besides, you *should* check out new dogs to see if they are safe before letting your puppy say hello!

Here’s a short video that reiterates the importance of taking the lead with your dog.
